Ribbons is a local-first app. The personal data you enter into the app — such as people's names, gift descriptions, occasions, dates, and notes — is stored entirely on your device. We do not have access to this data, and it is never transmitted to our servers.

We do collect limited anonymous usage data through PostHog, a third-party analytics service. This includes:

• A randomly generated anonymous identifier (not linked to your identity)
• App usage events such as when the app is opened, and when people, gifts, or ideas are added or removed
• Feature usage patterns (e.g., whether a gift entry includes an occasion or notes)
• Crash reports and error logs to help us fix bugs

This data does not include the content of your entries (names, gift descriptions, etc.) — only that an action occurred.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use anonymous analytics data solely to understand how the app is used, identify bugs and crashes, and improve the app experience. We do not use this data for advertising, profiling, or selling to third parties.

3. Data Storage

All of your personal data — people, gifts, ideas, and preferences — is stored locally on your device using your device's built-in storage. This data is not backed up to or synced with any external server. If you delete the app, your data will be permanently removed from the device.

4. Third-Party Services

Ribbons uses the following third-party services:

• PostHog — Used in the mobile app for anonymous event analytics and error tracking. PostHog may collect device-level information such as device type, operating system version, and app version. For more details, see PostHog's Privacy Policy.
• Plausible Analytics — Used on our website (tryribbons.app) for privacy-friendly, cookie-free web analytics. Plausible does not collect personal data or use cookies. For more details, see Plausible's Data Policy.

5. Data Security

Because your personal data is stored only on your device, its security is tied to your device's own security measures (passcode, biometrics, encryption). We do not transmit or store your personal data on external servers, which significantly reduces the risk of unauthorized access.

6. Children's Privacy

Ribbons is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Since all personal data stays on the device and our analytics are anonymous, no identifiable information about any user is collected.

7. Your Rights

Since your personal data is stored only on your device, you have full control over it at all times. You can view, edit, or delete any of your data directly within the app. Uninstalling the app will remove all locally stored data.
